Our Vendor Experience at the Twin Angel Folk Festival

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

On September 11 of this year we participated as a vendor in the Twin Angel Folk Festival held at Camp Sloper in Southington, CT. The festival celebrated its 5th year this year and raises funds for the Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation. TTTS is a disease that effects about 10% of all identical twin pregnancies.

The vendor location was just above the amphitheater overlooking Sloper Pond. Being a young event there were about a dozen local vendors featuring products and services that ranged from jewelry and art to Green conscious products and services.

Being above the amphitheater provided an ideal spot for musical entertainment by the outstanding feature artists. The layout of the grounds provided an ideal spot for foot traffic by being in the heart of all the activity. Attendees could not get to the entertainment without first going through the vendor area. An ideal set-up for potential customers.

Attendance for this 1 day, 7 hour event, was around 150 this year. We had a lot of lookers and a good percentage of buyers. For artists reading this we sold mostly prints. There were some craft vendors also but I don’t know how they did. However, our experience was so good we are already planning to go back next next year and encourage you to join us. The entry fee is more than reasonable; a donated item to be used in the raffle or silent auction. Food and drink is included in the ticket price and provided to vendors for no additional charge.

Painters of Realism; we capture images that ignite emotions.

Monday, August 9th, 2010

I observe my surroundings moment by moment, and in these moments I am captivated by the wonder and beauty of what I see. Displaced from my reality, stopped at that moment in time. But like so many other things in life, these images are temporary and fleeting, leaving only a faded image in my memory.

In conversation I try desperately to express what I’ve seen, but what I’ve seen is greater than an image I can describe, because I also experienced it. Try as I might, when I attempt to share what I’ve seen, my words pale in comparison, never really able to express the overwhelming emotion that caused me to pause and shut out the rest of the world while I savored the site.

In my artwork, I strive to capture these moments just as I remember them. At that fleeting moment when my conscience is snapped back to reality and the hurried pace that I momentarily escaped from.

Flowers fade, landscapes change, and sunsets and sunrises are new everyday. Skies as unique as the snow flake and as numerous as the number of days since the beginning of time. When I think of how much we see and even more of how much we miss I am grateful that I have eyes to see, a heart to feel, and hands to capture these moments to experience again and again.
